Some growers have expressed concern over implications of prolonged dry conditions on their sugar beet yields on meeting their contracted tonnage.
Current rules require growers to deliver an average of 95% of their contracted tonnage over a two year period. Based on last year's performance you will know what you need to deliver in the forthcoming campaign to comply and avoid having your contract cut. If you are worried about your ability to meet the contract, you are advised to officially log your concerns now with your British Sugar fieldsman who will discuss what action you can take to mitigate the risk. Keeping a detailed record of exceptional weather conditions throughout the season may also help.
