Sugar compensation scheme launched

The RPA will write to eligible beet growers in the next few days to invite applications for compensation resulting from the 13.5% UK quota renunciation.

Following the approval of British Sugar's application to renounce 13.5% of UK quota to the EU restructuring scheme earlier this year, the RPA is sending grower compensation applications to all eligible beet growers in the next few days.

The compensation scheme, known as Sugar Restructuring Aid, is worth up to €51 per tonne for 13.5% of a growers contracted tonnage. Growers are eligible for compensation proportionate to the number of years they held tonnage during the reference period 2006/07 to 2008/09 inclusive.

For further information on the Sugar Restructuring Aid and a reminder of the Additional Income Support, which is being paid through the SPS, please select the guidance notes below.
